Terms of Service

The rules that govern your use of MMA Central Sri Lanka.

1. Parties and Definitions

These Terms of Service (the "Terms") are a binding agreement between you and Peniel Uthayakumar, an individual proprietor in Sri Lanka, trading as "MMA Central Sri Lanka" (also "MMA Central", "we", "us", and "our"). By accessing or using the website at mmacentral.lk (the "Platform"), you agree to these Terms.

In these Terms:

  • "You" means any person who accesses or uses the Platform, whether as a visitor, fighter, event manager, or otherwise.
  • "Content" means anything uploaded, submitted, or published on the Platform, including text, images, videos, fighter biographies, fight records, event details, and messages.
  • "Fighter" means a user who has registered a fighter account.
  • "Event manager" or "manager" means a user who has registered an event manager account to list and manage fight events.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use MMA Central. If you are under 18, you may only register and upload content with the permission of a parent or legal guardian, and by using the Platform you confirm you have that permission.

Accounts representing minor fighters may be registered and managed by a parent, legal guardian, or coach on the fighter's behalf. The person operating the account is responsible for all content posted under it and for obtaining any further consents required by Sri Lankan law.

3. Account Registration

To register, you must provide a valid email address, choose a username, set a password, and verify your email via a one-time code. You agree to provide accurate and current information and to keep your account details up to date.

You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must notify us promptly at [email protected] if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.

You may only hold one fighter account and one event manager account at a time, unless we agree otherwise in writing.

4. Account Types and Verification

MMA Central offers two account types:

  • Fighter accounts are activated as soon as you verify your email.
  • Event manager accounts can be created and used immediately for draft work, but your events will not appear on the public Platform until we have manually verified your account. Verification is at our discretion and may require you to provide information about your organisation or the events you plan to run.

Verification is a signal that we have reviewed the account; it is not an endorsement, certification, sanction, or guarantee of the fighter or event. You remain solely responsible for the accuracy of your profile and the events you run.

5. Acceptable Use

You must not use the Platform to upload, post, or transmit any content that:

  • is unlawful under Sri Lankan law or the law of any jurisdiction where you are located;
  • is sexually explicit, pornographic, or gratuitously violent beyond the context of combat sports;
  • incites hatred, discrimination, or violence against any group or individual;
  • impersonates any real person or misrepresents your affiliation with any fighter, gym, event, or organisation;
  • contains fabricated or materially false fight records, results, or credentials;
  • discloses another person's private information without their consent (doxxing);
  • infringes any third party's intellectual property, personality, or privacy rights;
  • contains malware, spam, unsolicited advertising, or content designed to disrupt or exploit the Platform.

You must also not interfere with the operation of the Platform, attempt to access accounts or data that do not belong to you, scrape or harvest data beyond what is publicly displayed, or circumvent our rate limits or security measures.

6. Admin Removal Rights

We may, at our discretion and with or without prior notice, remove or restrict access to any content, or suspend or terminate any account, that we in good faith believe:

  • violates these Terms or the Acceptable Use rules in Section 5;
  • is illegal under Sri Lankan law;
  • impersonates another person or misrepresents a fighter, gym, event, or organisation;
  • is sexually explicit, pornographic, or gratuitously violent;
  • is defamatory or contains materially false statements of fact;
  • infringes a third party's intellectual property, personality, or privacy rights; or
  • poses a security, legal, or reputational risk to the Platform or its users.

We maintain an internal record of removals for audit purposes. If you believe content has been removed in error, you may dispute the removal by emailing [email protected].

We have no obligation to monitor content proactively, but we may do so at our discretion.

7. Your Content and Licence

You retain ownership of the content you upload. However, by uploading content to MMA Central (including photos, videos, fighter biographies, fight records, event details, and messages) you grant us:

a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence, transferable solely to a successor entity in connection with a sale, merger, or reorganisation of the Platform, and sublicensable solely to our hosting, storage, content-delivery, analytics, and email providers to the extent necessary to operate and secure the Platform,

to host, store, back up, reproduce, display, adapt (for resizing, thumbnailing, format conversion, and comparable technical modifications), and distribute your content:

  1. on the MMA Central website and any successor website or mobile application operated by us;
  2. on social-media channels officially operated by MMA Central, including @mmacentral.lk on Instagram and TikTok, @mmacentral_lk on X, and @mmacentralsrilanka on YouTube;
  3. in promotional material for the Platform and the fighters, events, and managers featured on it.

This licence does not authorise:

  • the sale or transfer of your content to unrelated third parties;
  • the use of your content by third-party advertisers or sponsors without your separate written consent;
  • the use of your content for purposes unrelated to operating or promoting the Platform.

The licence terminates when you delete the content or your account, except that:

  • copies retained in our encrypted backups will expire naturally within our standard backup retention window;
  • anonymised or aggregated statistics derived from the content may be retained indefinitely;
  • content that has legitimately been shared, embedded, or indexed elsewhere before deletion may persist in third-party services outside our control.

You warrant that you own the content you upload, or that you have all necessary rights, licences, and consents to grant this licence. For photos or videos depicting any person other than yourself, you warrant that you have that person's permission to upload and display the content on the Platform. You agree to indemnify us against any third-party claim arising from your breach of this warranty.

8. Event Manager Obligations

In addition to the general obligations in these Terms, if you register as an event manager:

  • you warrant that for every fighter depicted in a poster, fight card, gallery image, or other content you upload, you have obtained that fighter's permission for their likeness to appear on MMA Central, and MMA Central is not responsible for verifying these permissions;
  • you are responsible for the accuracy of the event information you publish, including dates, venues, ticket prices, fight cards, and results;
  • you are responsible for complying with any applicable promoter, sanctioning, licensing, safety, or regulatory requirements relating to the events you run;
  • MMA Central is not the organiser or sanctioning body of any event listed and accepts no responsibility for event cancellation, refunds, injury, or any other matter arising from events managed through the Platform.

9. Fighter Obligations

If you register as a fighter:

  • you are responsible for the accuracy of your profile and any fight records you self-report;
  • if your account is operated by a parent, legal guardian, or coach on your behalf, that person agrees to these Terms and is jointly responsible for the account;
  • you may only upload photos of yourself, or of other persons from whom you have obtained permission.

10. Disclaimers

The Platform is provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • Platform role. MMA Central is an information platform, not the organiser, promoter, or sanctioning body of any event listed on the site.
  • Self-reported records. Fighter profiles, fight records, stats, and credentials are provided by fighters themselves. We do not independently verify them.
  • Event details. Event details (dates, venues, cards, ticket prices) are supplied by event managers and may change without notice. Always confirm with the organiser before travelling or purchasing tickets.
  • Inherent risk of MMA. Mixed martial arts and combat sports involve a significant risk of injury, including serious injury or death. Nothing on the Platform is medical, training, nutrition, or safety advice. If you train in or compete in combat sports, you do so at your own risk and should obtain qualified professional advice.
  • No endorsement. References to third-party gyms, events, promotions, fighters, advertisers, sponsors, or external links do not constitute endorsement. We are not responsible for the content, products, or services of any third party.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise, including the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability to you in connection with the Platform or these Terms (whether in contract, tort, statute, or otherwise) shall not exceed LKR 1,000 (one thousand Sri Lankan rupees).

We shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or business opportunity, however arising.

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability for fraud, wilful misconduct, death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or any other liability that cannot be limited or excluded under Sri Lankan law (including damages payable under the Personal Data Protection Act No. 9 of 2022 or any applicable consumer-protection legislation).

12. Suspension and Termination

You may delete your account at any time by contacting us at [email protected].

We may suspend or terminate your account or access to the Platform at any time, with or without notice, in accordance with Section 6 (Admin Removal Rights) or where we reasonably believe it is necessary to protect the Platform, its users, or our legal interests.

On termination, the licences you granted us in Section 7 continue to apply to the limited extent described in that section (encrypted backups within their retention window, anonymised statistics, and content legitimately shared elsewhere before deletion). All other provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (including Sections 7, 10, 11, 14, and 15) will continue to apply.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. For material changes, we will give you at least 30 days' notice by email (to the address on your account) or by a prominent banner on the Platform. The revised Terms will take effect on the date stated in the notice, and your continued use of the Platform after that date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

Non-material changes (clarifications, typo corrections, or updates required by law) take effect when published, and the "Last updated" date at the top of this page will be revised accordingly.

14. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them or their subject matter are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka.

The competent courts of Sri Lanka have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with these Terms.
